WELLINGTON, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Visitors to one of New Zealand's scenic volcanoes have been warned to stay clear of the summit after it showed increased signs of possibility of erupting.

The government's GeoNet monitoring service on Wednesday said the output of volcanic gas from the crater lake on Mount Ruapehu, in the central North Island, was up and the lake water temperature was up from 25 degrees centigrade in April to 45 degrees centigrade in the last two days.

"Taken together these data now indicate more volcanic unrest at Mt Ruapehu. The increased gas output coupled with high heat flow and volcanic tremor imply a higher likelihood of activity," volcanologist Brad Scott said in a statement.

GeoNet had raised Ruapehu's volcanic alert level to level 2, indicating moderate to heightened unrest, and aircraft were being warned of increased activity.

The Department of Conservation (DOC) on Wednesday warned climbers and hikers against entering the "summit hazard zone" and area within 2 kilometers of the crater lake until further notice.

DOC operations manager Paul Carr said in a statement that it was important to remember Ruapehu was always active and went through periods of activity, and therefore was being constantly monitored.

The eruption detection and lahar warning systems operated by the department were all fully operational and continued to be tested regularly.

Ruapehu, part of the central North Island's volcanic belt and a major ski resort, last showed signs of heightened unrest in 2012 and it erupted in 1988, 2006 and 2007.

LONDON, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Novak Djokovic edged fourth seed Milos Raonic after two tie-break wins to reach the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London's O2 Arena on Tuesday.

Djokovc, the second seed, beat the Wimbledon finalist from Canada 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) in his second match of Group Ivan Lendl.

If Djokovic goes on to win the title, he will reclaim his year-end No. 1 in the ATP rankings from Britain's Andy Murray. The Serbian now has 11,180 points - 70 more points ahead of Murray (11 http://www.magicprostore.com/Cheap-Dj-Augustin-Magic-Jersey/ ,110), who will play his second round-robin match against Kei Nishikori of Japan on Wednesday.

Djokovic, who had been No. 1 for 122 consecutive weeks until November 7, will next play Gael Monfils of France.

"It was a very close match," said Djokovic. "I think very few points separated us tonight. It really could have gone either way. I was fortunate to get through the first set tie-break. I was down very early in both tie-breaks tonight. But I just managed to stay committed and put pressure on his second serves... Again, two tie-breaks against a big server is a great win and great confidence boost," he said.

In the day's other match http://www.magicprostore.com/Cheap-Bismack-Biyombo-Magic-Jersey/ , Dominic Thiem defeated Gael Monfils 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 to keep his dream of reaching the last final alive.

"It's very nice to get a win here... I was trying to stay tough in the third set," Thiem said. "I'm very happy with the win," he added.

Thiem will play his final round-robin contest against Raonic on Thursday.

NAIROBI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Wilson Kiprop will not try and reclaim his continental 10,000m title when the Africa Senior Athletics Championships gets underway in Marrakech http://www.magicprostore.com/Cheap-Arron-Afflalo-Magic-Jersey/ , Morocco in July.

Kiprop, 27, who was overlooked in Kenya's selection for the 2012 Africa Athletics Championships in Benin, is giving the track competition a bye, partly due to lack of competitions in the longest event (10,000m PB of 27:01.98) and also because he said it was the right time to shift his career a gear up to the marathon distance (2:09:09).

"I would love to compete for Kenya again. But it will be in the marathon. For now, I believe it is right to allow the younger athletes take the baton in the track."

"I believe the marathon distance is more lucrative and important for me now that am getting older http://www.magicprostore.com/Cheap-Aaron-Gordon-Magic-Jersey/ ," said Kiprop in Eldoret. The former World Half Marathon Champion has had 14 years on the track ever since he broke on to the national scene back in 1998.

"We have to give rooms to other upcoming athletes. You know how I used to run in track and managed to do well in Olympic and even won world medals. But I have to step aside to allow the upcoming generation. Let them take the challenge to the Ethiopians now on the track," Kiprop added.

Success has been hard to come to Kiprop, especially at events outside Africa on the track. Though he won gold at the World Half marathon in Nanjing, China, he made the cut for the 2011 World championships but had to withdraw due to a muscle injury and in the 2012 London Olympics, Kiprop failed to finish the race. He was sixth at the last World Half Marathon Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Kiprop has only competed in one 42km ultimate distance http://www.magicprostore.com/ , in 2009 at the Prague Marathon where he made his debut posting an impressive fast time of 2.09.09.

"No one can predict of what to come next. I have to do my part and only God knows what lies in store for me in the future."

"That's why I have come up with this decision. I have no regrets at all on track but it is the right time for me to switch to marathon at this age," added Kiprop.

He already has his schedule filled up with the Ottawa 10km race set for May 24. A second marathon in the fall, either in Europe or USA will be appealing to Kiprop and as he buries his head into training, he hopes to emerge with a high reputation and win a title.

His coach Solomon Serem, said they will be targeting a sub 2.06 in marathon. That will be almost three minutes off his personal best.
